It always surprises me how much time we spend choosing and office chair compared to a chair for home. Usually we will spend many hours finding the right chair for home while choosing an office chair usually consists of grabbing the nearest available one and checking all the wheels are there! Before you go and grab the next available chair just workout how long you’ll be sat in it.
The main problem people face with their office chairs is that they were handed down by the previous occupants of their desk. it is almost impossible that the former owner was exactly the same size and shape as the latest owner. If this has happened to you or happens in the future there are things you can do to make the situation a bit better.
The first thing you nees to do is to check out the full range of adjustment that your chair has. Start at the bottom and adjust the height so that your arms are at a natural and comfortable height. Then adjust the arms so that you can rest your arms on them. Finally adjust the back so that you get firm support from it. If any of the adjustments don’t work or you can’t get comfortable then ask for a new chair.
It never ceases to amaze me how many employers don’t pay attention to the condition of their office chairs. It’s well known that old and poorly adjusted office chairs are a major source of back problems. These problems can result in hundreds of lost working ours through people needeing time off. If you are an employer it will benefit you in the long run to ensure that your staff are sitting comfortably.
There are an number of points to be considered before you buy a new office chair
1. Does it have a full range of adjustment
2. What material is it covered with
3. How is it made
The range of adjustment is important as the chair may be used by more than one person. Unfortunately we aren’t all the same size so one user will require a different set up to another. The larger the range of adjustment the better the more useful the chair will be.
The type of covering used on office chairs are usually a matter of personal opinion. many peolle like to go with the luxurious feel of leather. While other prefer the comform and ventilation of mesh office chairs. One think most agree on is avoind vinyl covered seats at all costs.
Office chairs can be constructed in many ways. Some come with high backs and others with low backs. You may find ones with headrests incorporated into the construction. How the front of the chair is constructed can have an big effect on the support a user gets. Once again the style of the arm rests can play a big part in the overall comfort of the chair. Bearing in mind all these factors it would be wise to test any chair thoroughly before buying.

Fat? So Whose Fault Is It?
July 21st, 2009 by julia97 · No Comments · Uncategorized
The world is growing fatter. But have you ever asked yourself whose fault it is? Is it the government’s fault that they are passing policies that are making poor food choices easier? Is it the media that is bombarding us with advertisements of crackers and cookies?
Or is it the food industry that sells us food for two dollars which translates into half a pound of fat in our body? Heck, we can even blame the devil for the lack of the will to say no to that sixth piece of black forest and ice-cream we know very well we should not be eating.
Obesity is defined by world Health Organization (WHO) as a multi-factorial disease. Meaning it results from a number of factors. But ultimately, it is agreed that is mainly a poor lifestyle issue. Yet there are studies pointing fingers to our genes, to the underground water, others point to the lack of sleep and the list goes on and on.
The argument based on genetic could be a major one only if we didn’t know that in the last year the gene pool has not changed significantly. But our eating habits have. It is also interesting to note that whenever obesity is becoming a problem whether in U.S Australia, U.K or Japan, the same modern lifestyle is always present.
Even in Africa, cities that enjoy modern lifestyle like Jo’burg, in South African, Cairo in Egypt or Nairobi in Kenya, all are showing an increase of obesity. In contrast rural areas that do not have the same modern luxuries overweight people are rare. This is where they eat healthier foods; read close to nature, as opposed to so processed foods that one cannot tell if it is from corn or cocoa. It is where people walk distances and are physically involved rather than seated 80% of their waking hours.
Probably before we blame sleep, specifically the lack of it, genes for pre-disposing us to obesity or the under ground water for its salts we need to identify the more obvious pattern of lifestyle.
Why is it that you will probably never see a “fat” Maasai in the Savannah plains of Kenya yet you will meet with them in the more affluent areas at the country? Why is it that the individuals in the urban centers in Africa are twice the weight as their parents in rural areas?
This probably explains why obesity is a national problem in countries where urban lifestyle is predominant.
I gather that probably we want some one else or something else to take blame for our expanding waists. I further gather that is easier to say someone else or something else did it rather than see how we are contributing to this health menace. Yet it is us it hurts, not the gene, sleep or underground water. It is us who have to deal with heart diseases, diabetes, and hypertension not to mention related costs.
Is it not easier to say we are fat because we did it to ourselves? Will this not make it easier to solve the fat problem by putting it back into our control?
Detect Metals With Hand-Held Device Like Compass
July 21st, 2009 by julia97 · No Comments · Uncategorized
A compass is an instrument used for navigation. It helps one find one’s bearing in relation to the four cardinal directions based on the ability of the compass’ needle point to align itself to the earth’s north. The compass uses magnetism and the principles of electromagnetism to be able to tell the correct direction. Given this information about a compass, it would seem that the word compass is a good brand name for a metal detector.
Compass Electronics produces metal detectors for treasure hunting and metal detecting in general. For seasoned metal hunters, the Compass metal detector is the detecting tool of choice. Just like a compass can readily help one find the correct path, a Compass metal detector helps one find hard to find metals hidden beyond sight.
Compass Electronics had its say in revolutionizing the technology for metal detectors. It introduced Compass metal detectors with two D shaped coils mounted together to form a circle and this design has been widely adopted by other metal detectors.
All metal detector dealers and outlets will have a wide array of Compass metal detectors to choose from. There are different designs of Compass metal detectors for specialized detecting needs. You can pick one that will suit your style, preferences and budget. If you are unsure about what type of Compass metal detector to purchase, or it is your first time to try the Compass brand, you may ask the advice and help of qualified individuals from good and reliable metal detector stores.
You can also opt to ask around from other Compass metal detector users about what they think about their gadgets and how effective it is in helping them in their metal detection. It is always helpful to get a peer’s review because that way, you know you will get unbiased opinions and they will want to help you. For lack of personal peer that may be into metal detecting like you, you can check online for reviews, particularly on user ratings of the Compass metal detector.
If it is your first foray into the world of metal detection, you may become daunted by the amount of choices one has when it comes to purchasing a metal detector. Keep in mind however that no matter how good a metal detector brand happens to be, its effectivity is dependent on your skills as a metal detector as well as its features compatibility with the type of metal detection you want to achieve.
The world is becoming a dangerous place to live. People who want to cause danger and those who want to alarm an otherwise peaceful community are becoming more and more ingenious so even a harmless office supply like a paper clip can be one of the components of a destructive device.
This is such a bad news not only for the general public but also for the officials whose task is to make sure the peace and order reign in the area of responsibilities. The growing menace of the society poses a big problem that is not at all becoming easy to solve. With this in mind, there has to be creative and smarter solutions in approaching the situations.
One of the things that can be done is to thoroughly implement standard security measures. These measures are usually sufficient if only security guards or anyone tasked to go about these measures would only be patient enough to go through each step.
Sometimes because nothing bad is happening, everyone becomes lax including the people who should be always keen on watching suspicious things and behaviors. Only when the news reports of failed bombings or successful terrorist operations do everyone go back to being always on their toes. It is about time that people take seriously the call to be vigilant.
Second is to have hand held metal detectors in all establishments. Metals are usually the main driving force behind devices so detecting a metal device early on can save everyone of a brewing future trouble. Personnel at the doors should not be scared to use the hand held metal detector to anyone who enters even if there are VIP’s.
It can be a hassle but it is okay to have a bit hassle than to have none and ending up blaming the fact that the person who was able to infiltrate a said building or establishment just got in without any trouble. Though there are many possible hiding places of metal pieces, a person who knows how to use a hand held metal director would have an idea where to more or less look for metal stuff.
These two things can certainly have an impact in security and to think these are but basic measures that can be applied by anyone or anywhere. Make sure then to do the two things above to make yourself secure during perilous times like what we are experiencing now.
Solar Renewable Energy – Sun Power
July 21st, 2009 by julia97 · No Comments · Uncategorized
It is no secret that the sun can be harnessed to provide a source of energy for homes and businesses.
The sun is a powerful star. It supplies us with energy, through a process called nuclear fusion, and sustains life on our planet Earth. Solar energy, or energy from the sun, has existed since prehistoric times when men would magnify the sun’s energy in efforts to start fires.
The sun is a valuable resource that radiates enough energy on the United States in one day to meet the nation’s needs for one and a half years. Since it is a free, clean and renewable source of energy, it is an energy source that will play a vital role in our future.
Using the sun’s energy for our energy source seems like an easy solution to having an energy supply forever. Harnessing the suns energy is where the problem lies. The sun’s rays shine all over the world and not in just one spot. Although it takes only 8 minutes for sunlight to travel to the earth, trying to catch the rays over such a wide area can prove to be tricky. Also, the energy in any one given place will vary due to factors, such as, clouds and weather conditions.
The history of using solar energy began in 1890′s when solar water heaters were used in the United States. Solar water heating requires a storage collector and a storage tank. Flat plate solar collectors are mounted on rooftops. Pipes carrying water are pumped through these collectors. The tubes are painted black so they will get hot quicker. As the heat is collected the fluid in the tubes get heated. A storage tank holds the hot liquid. This helps with central heating and cutting fuel costs. Solar heaters became popular when natural gas was expensive and burning wood and coals were burdensome. It’s popularity diminished with the discovery of an abundance of natural gas and oil deposits. Now they are making a comeback to replace the depleting fossil fuels that had taken its place.
Solar energy can be in the form of heat energy or light energy. The technology of photovoltaic, or PV as it is commonly called, converts the suns energy into electric currents through the use of solar cells. These electric currents can be used instantaneously or stored for later use. The PV cells consist of pieces of silicon under a thin piece of glass. They have both a positive and negative charge. Simple examples of this are the solar powered calculators that are common today. More complex examples are solar panels placed on roofs. This consists of using thin film solar cells as rooftop shingles, roof tiles, and even glazing for skylights. Unfortunately, the cells generate only about one sixth of the sun’s energy into electricity. This means bigger arrays are needed and along with this come larger costs.
Solar thermal power plants use the sun to heat fluid, which in turn, is transferred into steam similar to fossil fuel burning plants. The steam is transformed into mechanical energy in a turbine and electrical energy from a generator. The downfall is solar plants cannot produce energy on cloudy days.
It is expected the next few years will see millions of households using solar energy. As research continues and processes improve, using our sun as a renewable energy source will produce efficiency and cost savings. So, let the sun shine in and take full advantage of this warm energy source where you live.
When Seniors Remarry Late in Life What is Different and What Pitfalls Could Be Avoided
July 21st, 2009 by julia97 · No Comments · Uncategorized
A lot has been written about romance but there isn’t much available data about senior romance. It’s actually in a class by itself and needs special treatment.
First of all, the normal hurdles that younger couples have to work their way through are seldom of concern. Careers are over for most seniors. Children are raised and have left home. Home buying and other major acquisitions were made in the distant past. Well, then, it sounds like all should be quiet on the romantic front, doesn’t it?
That’s not necessarily so. Seniors who have reached an advanced age, say past seventy, have often established some very strong opinions. One person put it to me this way…”There are a lot of ways to go to the mailbox.” It isn’t something that is often noticed on the surface. Habits become solidified and attitudes, opinions and reactions become pretty firmly entrenched without much fanfare. Long, comfortable marriages seem to support the “I Did It My Way” that Frank Sinatra once sang about.
Seniors who find themselves alone, usually because of the loss of a partner, don’t have current skills at dating and selecting a mate. How could they? And what worked in their late teens or early twenties is usually way beyond obsolete. Unfortunately, most “don’t know that they don’t know” and assumptions are usually rampant.
Dating often becomes a stiff affair involving a meal out with friends or alone and maybe a movie. More often than not, a marriage is contracted with no baseline of reality to hold it together. Each partner knows how things should be, which is how they always were in the past, right? Wrong! Issues of all kinds arise when no serious consideration is given to varying points of view.
The land of assumptions is the direct opposite of deep, investigative conversations. What should be seriously addressed are attitudes about sexual behavior, the handling of finances, the division of labor in the home and yard and how various adult children are going to be involved. And that’s just for starters.
Even when this is done, deep honesty may be by-passed. Telling it how it would be “lov-er-ly”…not how it is can be an easy trap to fall into when trying to win someone over. Often adult children react to a late in life marriage of a cherished parent differently than the hopeful parent thought they would. In other words, they may be hard to second guess.
One senior couple I know quite well sailed into marital bliss with the wife being promised “nooners” by a husband who was sure she would be the cure for his sexual impotence. He also guaranteed that his grown kids would love anyone he loved and that turned out to be a bust. They hadn’t talked about finances because neither of them was comfortable with the subject, so another hurdle loomed. A decade later they are doing very well but it looked, from my vantage point at least, like it was a long, uphill climb.
What seems to work is to take it slow and easy, and see what evolves. Neither partner can be a replacement for the one who is gone. New attitudes may have to be considered and new patterns created. When seniors marry it is not usually a rerun of an early-in-life romance where the pieces just fall in place automatically. It is new and different and needs to be treated with great respect. Seniors are wiser, we can all hope, but not as durable in most cases. The resilience of youth has usually come and gone.
Anyone wanting to remarry late in life might be wise to talk with other senior newly-weds, their own grown kids, a beloved minister and/or even a counselor. Why not stack the deck favorably?
Search Sub Engine, The Essential Free Marketing Tool For Professionals And Newbies Alike
July 20th, 2009 by julia97 · No Comments · Uncategorized
You’ve no doubt heard the term, familiarity breeds contempt. And I suppose you may be wandering where this fits in with your internet marketing and the results you either, do or don’t achieve.
With regards to Internet marketing, the opposite of the term, familiarity breeds contempt, is more like the norm. Most people, you probably included, and I have also been guilty of this, seek out one or maybe two particular marketing tools and stick with them, regardless of the results they achieve.
Although this would appear on the surface to be complete and utter madness, if we break it down, we can see two particular reasons for doing so.
1. You have paid, and probably paid handsomely for it, or you are subscribing monthly to a program.
2. You are familiar with the workings of the tool and that keeps you within your comfort zone.
Looking at point #1. You have paid for a particular tool or you subscribe to a program. Ask your self one simple question. Does this tool or program deliver the results you really need.
Without even waiting for your answer, I can safely say it’s very likely a big no.
This leads us onto point #2. If the answer to point #1 is no, why do you stay with the same old program or tool knowing that the results it delivers are at best mediocre.
Would it be because you are familiar with the tool or program, you are comfortable with the usability of it, and because it fits nicely into your comfort zone you continue using it.
You continue wasting your time and your energy night after night, until you convince yourself that Internet marketing simply does not work. And, eventually you give up, feeling totally dejected, but having convinced yourself that you gave it all you’ve got.
Let’s take you back to when you first had your beautiful new website, or your promising affiliate scheme on screen in front of you for the very first time. Remember how you were feeling, the pride, the optimism, the positive outlook, is it coming back.
then you began to promote your site or affiliate scheme, using a promotional tool for the very first time, it doesn’t matter which tool it may have been. You felt confused, overloaded with information, unable to absorb the technicalities involved. But as the days, maybe weeks passed, you became familiar with the functions of your marketing tool and before no time at all, you are comfortably using it like a pro.
But all is not well, and it’s not been well since the beginning. You followed all the instructions from the very beginning, and remember, you’re now so expert at using this tool that it seems like hardly any work at all.
But where are your results, why are you still not able to make a living online, why has your site not entered the top search engine results and why oh why does it all seem to be such a waste of energy.
Simple, you allowed familiarity to cloud your judgment, and along the way you became wary of trying something new for fear of stepping outside your comfort zone or the possibility that it may cost you more of your hard earned cash to try something that will deliver the results you have been waiting for, but above all, the results you know you deserve.
I am about to upset your apple cart and inform you of one tool that ticks all your boxes, it’s familiar in its concept, it delivers targeted traffic to you website, blog, mlm, affiliate scheme, whatever you’re promoting and above all it’s free to use.
What is it. It’s a Search Sub Engine, it’s new and it’s all set to turn online marketing completely on its head.
The only criteria you have to meet to use a Search Sub Engine is, your site, blog, affiliate scheme or mlm must be available to view online. It’s position in the search engine results don’t matter, you product or scheme doesn’t matter, all that matters is that you drive traffic to whatever it is you are promoting so you can benefit from the results of your hard work.
The Search Sub Engine will do all of this for you, and in the process it will gradually push your listing to the very top of it’s search results. I’ll repeat that, just in case you can’t believe your eyes. It will gradually push your listing to the very top of it’s search results.
Don’t ever be afraid to try something new, especially when its workings are familiar and when it’s free.
But above all, pull yourself out of your rut and get yourself over to the nearest Search Sub Engine and start making some money from your efforts today.

The Incredible Edible Olive
July 20th, 2009 by julia97 · No Comments · Uncategorized
Olives have been eaten and the oil used since biblical times but it wasn’t until recently that they have enjoyed so much press due to their cardioprotective properties. About 1/3 of the olive is monounsaturated fatty acid, commonly refereed to as “the good fat” which is thought to lower cholesterol levels and help prohibit the buildup of plaque in the arteries.
Olives are grown mostly in the Mediterranean countries where they are a large part of the diet. Studies have shown that people in the Mediterranean regions who eat a lot of olives tend to have less heart disease as well as less incidence of certain types of cancer.
The olives that we are used to seeing in the stores and eating are not fresh olives from the trees. In their raw state, olives are quite bitter and they must be “cured” in order to be palatable. Different methods of curing produce different flavors in the olives and today, there are dozens of gourmet olives widely available.
Olives can be used to add zest to any dish – but you must pick the right olive to compliment the main food. Some olives can be salty, some sweet and others earthy and rustic. Here’s a guide to the different types of olives and the foods they go best with.
Sweet Flavored Olives
Green olives with herbs de Provence have a vibrant citrus flavored and is a delightful blend of herbs de Provence spices and large green olives. It is an excellent choice to use in surf dishes and with sweet spices.
Earthy Flavored Olives
Nicoises is a earthy rich olive commonly used in salad. The curing of this olive in red-wine vinegar gives it a distinctive taste. Mount Athos green olives with sun-dried tomatoes are olives combined with sun dried tomatoes. The heavy flavor of this olive make it a great snack all by itself! Sun-dried olives have a rich flavor that blends wonderfully in sauces for serving over pasta.
Spicy and Zesty Flavored Olives
Mount Athos green with Sicilian herbs is another olive that utilizes herbs to dominate the pallet. Rosemary, garlic, mustard seed, and red pepper flakes give this olive a spicy appeal. Mount Athos green stuffed with garlic are olives stuffed with garlic and are great to zip up a martini or added on top of pizza. Kalamatas olives are black olives cured in red wine vinegar which results in a tangy taste. Alfonsos are similar in taste to the Kalamata and are often found served in antipastos. Another olive that is similar in taste to the Alfonsos and Kalamatas is the Halkididis which makes a great dip when mixed into cream cheese along with garlic. An olive that has a meaty buttery taste is the Lucques, which is great as a snack with cheese and bruchetta.

What Is All The Fuss About With Vending Machines In Schools?
July 20th, 2009 by julia97 · No Comments · Uncategorized
There is plenty of controversy over the issue of vending machines being allowed in schools. With so many people in our society being overweight, especially children, things like this are coming under close scrutiny. If you pick up your children from school then you have definitely seen the lines of children getting sodas and snacks before they head home. In many instances their parents don’t even know that this is taking place.
Due to recent articles that show parents what they don’t know, more parents are protesting against vending machines in schools. For example on recent study showed that most parents aren’t aware that their children are spending lunch money on items from the vending machines. On a daily basis, this definitely equates to a very unhealthy diet.
As a result, many parents of overweight children are blaming the schools for the problems. They claim they feed their child nutritious meals at home and provide them with money to eat at school. These parents are advocating for schools to remove vending machines altogether to eliminate the temptation and the development of bad eating habits.
Since most schools don’t want to tell vending machine companies that they have to remove them, they ask that the machines don’t get used during lunch time. This is to encourage students to eat from the cafeteria. However, students are quite clever and they get around this. They either go to a store or fast food place for lunch or they even buy what they want to from the vending machines between classes earlier in the day.
Schools are really good locations for vending machines if you can get your foot in the door. Even with so many issues surrounding it today, the still seem to do a great deal of business. School age children enjoy the freedom of being able to select the food items they want from vending machines when their parents aren’t around
One alternative is to change some of the selections offered in the vending machines. This way they could remain in the schools but offer some healthier options that will be good for the students. Instead of soda drinks offered could include water, sports drinks, and juice. Instead of sugary snacks students could choose from peanuts, granola bars, yogurt, fresh fruit, and crackers.
In schools that have made this type of switch, the students are still buying items from the vending machines. This is because they may not have had time to eat breakfast or they want something after school before football practice. When it comes to hungry kids, they may not always make the best choices but if a healthy food or drink is all that is available they will likely take it over nothing at all.
Make a plan of attack so you are ready for this argument from administration. If they know you are on board with a plan of the healthy items you will offer in vending machines then you may have a chance of placing your machines there. This can end up being very profitable for you. Even though school is only in session for nine months, staff and summer schools students will be there in the summer months.
High Blood Pressure Can Be An Extremely Dangerous Condition Which Normally Has A Simple Solution
July 20th, 2009 by julia97 · No Comments · Uncategorized
In the last few years changes in lifestyle and diet in most western societies have led to an increase in the number of individuals with high blood pressure.
High blood pressure (which is otherwise known as hypertension, or more accurately arterial hypertension) is a serious condition that seldom shows any symptoms and that, if left undetected and untreated, can result in stroke, arterial aneurysm, heart attack, heart failure or renal failure all of which represent life-threatening conditions.
So precisely what is high blood pressure and precisely what causes it?
The arteries within the body are continuously filled with blood that provides a normal ‘background’ pressure against the artery walls. As the heart pumps freshly oxygenated blood around the body it pushes this blood into the arteries briefly raising the pressure on the artery walls with every beat of the heart. These two pressures are known as the systolic pressure (the higher pumping pressure of the heart) and the diastolic pressure (the lesser ‘background’ pressure).
Normal levels of blood pressure vary from one individual to the next but, usually, systolic pressure should be approximately 120mm and diastolic pressure should be approximately 80mm. This is normally shown as a blood pressure of 120/80.
Whenever your blood pressure begins to rise and then remains above 120/80 then you are described as being ‘prehypertensive’ and, although this is not in itself serious, it is an indication that you may be at risk of developing hypertension and all of the problems associated with it. If your blood pressure rises to, and stays at, a level of 140/90 or higher then you are suffering from hypertension and action needs to be taken to reduce your blood pressure.
But what makes you blood pressure rise and then stay at a high level?
Well, there are several factors at play here and to begib there is a group over which you have little, or no, control. This group of factors includes low weight at birth, a number of genetic factors, some types of diabetes (particularly type 2 diabetes) and your age (as we grow older the arteries have a tendency to become fibrous and lose their elasticity, creating a reduced cross-sectional area for the blood to flow through).
The second group of factors is far more controllable and includes a sedentary lifestyle, stress, smoking, alcohol abuse, high levels of salt and saturated fats in the diet, excess weight and employment in specific occupations such as flying or motorway maintenance.
The vast majority of these factors are of course treatable and, in many cases, a simple adjustment to your diet and the addition of a bit of exercise into your daily routine is all that is needed to solve the problem. However, the difficulty is that, with few symptoms, most individuals do not know that they have high blood pressure in the first place.
So how can you go about solving the problem?
Fortunately the answer to this particular question is quite simple. All you have to do is to drop by your physician’s office on a regular basis (for most of us about twice a year should do the trick) and ask him or her to check your blood pressure for you. The procedure is pain free, easy and quick and will provide you with peace of mind and possibly save your doctor a lot of time, work and expense later on when you are forced to visit his office once high blood pressure sets in.
If you are not all that keen on visiting your doctor then one excellent alternative today is to monitor your own blood pressure at home. A large selection of easy to operate and reasonably inexpensive monitors are available nowadays, allowing you to keep an eye on your health, and that of your whole family, in the comfort and privacy of your own home.
